Welcome to my Fundraising Page for Team NSS and OUR Team CIBC!
As you know, we are in our 20th of year of being the title Sponsor of the CIBC Run for the Cure. To date, we have raised over 20 million dollars for Breast Cancer research thanks to so many people in volunteering their time, sponsoring, and other means of raising awareness.
Since joining CIBC in 2000, I have worked with many people whom I consider friends. Sadly, I have worked with 3 colleagues who were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Years ago, one of my colleagues was in remission, and after going through numerous rounds of chemotherapy and radiation she had lost all her hair. We were having lunch one day, and she was very nervous about wearing her wig and it not looking right. The wig she had was synthetic but was more cost effective compared to a natural wig, and it gave me the idea to support her by cutting my hair and donating it. As I began to research the organizations that would accept hair donations, I was shocked to learn that it takes 6 hair donations just to make 1 wig! So, I began a long –term goal in 2004 to cut my hair enough times to donate the equivalent of 1 wig.
Fast forward to 2016, and I will hopefully be donating another 20 inches hair for the 4th time on September 30th. The hair donation will be going to Angel Hair for Kids which is an organization that makes wigs for pediatric cancer patients. My goal this year is to raise $1000 for Run for the Cure. The minimum amount of hair I need to donate is 10 inches, and for every $100 I raise, I will cut off an extra inch which means I have a total of 20 inches of hair I can donate if I reach my goal! As a member of team NSS, and OUR team CIBC overall, your support will not only help raise awareness for Breast Cancer research, but the hair donation will hopefully increase a child’s self-esteem during a difficult time in their lives.
Thank you for your generosity!
