Welcome to Courtney Hartle's personal page
Friends & Family,
This will be the 4th year that I participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure, and I cannot express how truly grateful I am to all of you for the support; together we have raised over $5000 since my first run in 2014!! Whether you have made a donation to help me reach (and exceed) my fundraising goals, offered words of support, or joined me on the day of the 5K, I am so appreciative!
My motivation is simple:
September 29, 2013 was the day I lost my best friend. My mother, Maureen slipped away from us due to unexpected complications from chemotherapy. She was a warrior, fighter and pillar of strength and I am so proud to have been raised by this woman. Only a few days shy of marking a full year since diagnosis, my Mom had looked forward to the day when she could use her 45+ years of nursing and personal experience to help others with navigating through the unfamiliar & frightening world of appointments, tests and treatments.
After her initial diagnosis, Mom (extremely) rarely showed any fear or doubts of the outcome, and instead tried to focus on the positive and look toward the future (as mentioned above). I was in awe of her. Throughout the journey Mom still somehow managed to be MY strength and offered comfort when my emotions got the best of me. This woman was amazing, to put it mildly.
Once again in her honour, and to continue to raise awareness and help to fund research, I will participate in the 2017 5K with the hope that one day there will be a generation that will not feel the pain of losing a loved one too soon, or see the struggle of a survivor. The feeling of helplessness during her journey and emptiness that is now a part of my Dad, sister, brother and I are what we want to help prevent others from experiencing.
The money raised during the CIBC Run for the Cure helps to fund critical and groundbreaking research, education, and advocacy initiatives across the country. I am glad to be helping to change the future, but I need your help to do it.
You can make a difference too by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Together, we can help support Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation funded researchers. If you’d like to see more ways in which your support is making a difference, take a look Your Impact at www.cibcrunforthecure.com.
Please donate to me and support my fundraising efforts. Together, we can help to create a future without breast cancer.
