Welcome to Holly Dickson's personal page
Please support my fundraising efforts for this year’s Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. By making a donation, you are joining a national movement in communities across Canada on Sunday, September 30 and helping to fund innovative research and patient support initiatives that help the 1 in 9 women expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation supports life-saving research, such as:
• Identifying new genetic factors that predispose people to breast cancer
• Using state of the art technology to design treatments for breast cancers that have spread to the brain and lungs
Your commitment supports the patient support initiatives and advancements in research that are ensuring women live longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis.
On a personal note - I was diagnosed with breast cancer 14 years ago, this September. I went through surgery, chemo, radiation, and hormone therapy.
I feel very fortunate for the wonderful team of Drs that I had taking care of me in Sudbury, along with my family Doctor, they saved my life.
I was also fortunate to have the support of my husband, family and friends.
My intentions are not for myself at this point in my life, they are for my wonderful daughters, daughter in laws, step daughters, my beautiful granddaughters, my wonderful nieces, cousins and friends.
I run in honour of my Mother, Aunts and cousins. xo.
2017 - we raised over $3000.00 and were able to choose were the money went. I chose for it to be donated to metastatic Breast cancer. Between 20 and 30 percent of women with early stage breast cancer go on to develop metastatic disease. While treatable, metastatic breast cancer (MBC) cannot be cured. The five-year survival rate for stage 4 breast cancer is 22 percent median survival is three years. Annually, the disease takes 40,000 lives.
Be a Changemaker by helping us reach our fundraising goal and donating today. Together, we can create a future without breast cancer.
Thank you for your generosity! Holly
